critical studies on location

Location 1:

How easy is it to access?
its hard to access as it is a small and narrow road which only allows a small number of people and film equipment at a time. The location is just off a local muddy path, which will make it harder to access and bring equipment to.
Is there parking?
There is on street parking near the location which allows workers to drive to location and make it easier to get to.
What type of permission do you need?
As it is a public path way we needed to get permission from the council in the area and not only that but as there are house surrounding the location we had to get location from all the different house saying its ok if we get their property in view of the camera.
Is it safe to film?
The location is usually very safe to film at as it is a public area so it is kept in good condition but due to the bad weather and rain the near by paths have become very wet and muddy which has made it slippery and can be dangerous at times.
Is there storage space?
There will be storage provided so people are able to leave there belongings on sight and know they are safe and that means they don’t have to leave there items in the car.
Is there electivity for the equipment?
There is no power is it is in the woods but we have brought in generators to give us power to allow us to run equipment and run other things like lights.
Is there first ad on sight?
We have a first ad kit on sight along with a first ad person which is able to help anyone if they are hurt or feel sick.
Will there be food?
Food will be provided on sight for staff and workers as there isn’t food near the area and this will make sure they can stay on sight longer and will they can eat whenever they need.
Is there a lot of surrounding noise?
As this is a rural area there isn’t a lot of surrounding sounds, for example there isn’t car pollution noise or anything like that, the only noise that is pollution in the area is the sound of birds and animals, not only that but there is a whistle from a dog walker every so often and that’s the only noise in the area.
Is there a lot of public activity?
As it’s a public foot path there is a decent amount of public activity but due to it being in the countryside there isn’t that many people walking around and seeing someone walk up and down this path only usually happens about once a hour.
Can you transform the scene easily?
As it is in the outdoors it is significantly harder to transform the scene to what you want but due to the fact it is quite small and narrow it does make it easier to transform that other larger areas.
Can you create a clear frame or are things in the way?
You can have a clear shot as it is a small path nothing can get in the way of the frame and make the shot look messy. But due to its small size it can be a little hard to get a clear shot if it is windy as some branches will be blown in frame.
Is there enough space? 
There is enough space for this shot as at the beginning of the path there is enough space to have all the camera equipment and the path way is enough space for the actor to run down.
Shooting times?
We can film though most of the day but as it is still a residential area and there are houses near by we have to stop filming about 9 pm and we can start filming about 8 am which means we have a good time to film though out the day. 
Enough lighting for night shooting?
As there is enough space around the shooting location we are able to bring in generators on sight and then are able to have considerable amount of lighting which is more than enough for this scene. 
How does the sun rise and set?
The sun rise left to right over the location which means we get good amount of light for shooting and the location looks good though out most of the day.
What type of public activity is there?
There is only people walking around and dog walkers coming though this location as there is no roads for vehicles. 
Is there a makeup place?
There is makeup truck off sight, which is about a 5-minute walk away. 
Equipment storage?
There is multiple tents to store equipment just behind the shooting location which means equipment is safe. 
Do you need police or security?
As this is a public foot path we need some police to control public movement when we are filming to stop random people walking into frame and we also need security near the storage location at all times to make sure the equipment is safe. 



Location 2:

How easy is it to access?
It is hard to access as it is a main field that is surrounded by wood which means we have to walk with all the equipment to get to. There is also not much transport near by which means you have to drive to get there as well.
Is there parking?
There is on street parking on one of the roads near to the location, which means that everyone has to drive here and then park on the street and have to walk to the location.
What type of permission do you need?
This is a public field so I will have to go to the council and get permission from them to film in, not only that but as there as houses backing onto the field I have to get permission from the home owners to film there.
Is it safe to film?
It is safe as it is in a open area which is away from any danger which means filming can be done safely. 
Is there storage space?
There is storage space for workers to keep their belongings which means they don’t have to worry about leaving them lying around or in their cars.
Is there electivity for the equipment?
We will being generators on sight as we are in a field there is no power so we have to bring generators in to power everything. 
Is there first ad on sight?
There will be a trained first aid person on sight at all times to make sure everyone is safe and if anything happens they can get treated. 
Will there be food?
 Food will be supplied as this field Is a distance away from any shop and it will take up a large part of the day having stuff go back and fourth to get food so food will be provided at the sight.  
Is there a lot of surrounding noise?
There is none to no surrounding nose and it is a inclosed field surrounded by trees which blocks out most noises the only noises you can hear are the birds wind and occasional dog walker. 
Is there a lot of public activity?
As it is public there is some public traffic but due to it being far away there isn’t that much ar all and if we film during the day there are no people around at all. 
Can you transform the scene easily?
You can transform it very easily as it is a large open fields so its easy to add props and change the look of it.
Can you create a clear frame or are things in the way?
As it’s a open area it’s a very clear frame and there would be nothing obstructing it or make it look bad. 
Is there enough space? 
Yes there is plenty of space as it’s a open field. 
Shooting times?
You can shoot most times as long as you get permission from the appropriate people and owners of the land. 
Enough lighting for night shooting?
As we are bringing generators on sight we will be able to add as much lighting as we need.
How does the sun rise and set?
The sun will rise from the back of the field and move towards the entrance of the field as the day goes on but as its so open and once it hits mid day there are little to no shadows as well. 
What type of public activity is there?
As it’s a open field there is some public movement but due to it being a secluded field there isn’t much movement except the a dog walker from time to time. 
Is there a makeup place?
There will be a makeup tent on sight to allow makeup to be done then and there. 
Equipment storage?
There will be a large tent on sight for all equipment to be stored in and will help keep it dry incase of any rain. 
Do you need police or security?
Yes security is needed to watch over the equipment as it is in a public area there is public activity.
